Katwalk Charity Bartending Event |
|
On August 15, 2008, The South Asian Cancer Foundation (SACF) and Swab4Bevin, two organizations which are both now under the umbrella organization – the Bevin Kalathil Varughese Memorial Foundation, hosted the second annual charity bartending event at Katwalk in New York City. Ten percent of sales were donated to various charities affiliated with cancer. The event had a huge turnout and was indeed a success. Thanks to all the volunteers and participants. (For those of you not familiar, the first annual charity event was organized by Bevin himself along with his friends in July of 2007 while he was in remission. His motto was, ‘gimme ur spit, get registered’, as he was advocating for more individuals to join the National Marrow Donor Program.) |

Sponsored by Swab4Bevin, an organization which is now under the umbrella organization – the Bevin Kalathil Varughese Memorial Foundation , we hosted a charity happy hour at Bar XII in New York City on Thursday, July 2, 2009. Ten percent of bar sales were donated to charities raising South Asian Cancer Awareness. In addition, a bone marrow swab drive in conjunction with SAMAR (South Asian Marrow Association of Recruiters) was held to enlist those not registered with the NMDP. Thanks to all the attendees who made the night a huge success. Look for more Charity Happy Hours in the coming months. |
